So John have I got it the wrong way round, meaning if I want to have more bass I need to switch it to high? And vice versa. Where if you wanted to grunge them up more audibly, probably "neutral" would be best. EG, for strings, if you wanted to add some warmth while keeping the violins nice and clear, "keep high" would be a good choice. It's more meaningful to base your decision on the end result you're looking for than assume a default for a given kind of instrument. "Neutral" means the distortion is full range. "Keep low" means the low end is not effected. As I say, "Keep High" means the high end is *not* affected. That's not really quite right, about the low / neutral / high switch.
